Moon

Description: Astronaut Sam Bell works alone on a station on the moon, harvesting He3, and is approaching the end of his 3 year stint. His sanity is kept by a robot named GERTY. The only contact he has with the outside world are video messages he receives from his wife. When Sam begins to loose his mind, he starts to see things. With two weeks to go, he crashes his rover while out on the moon, and is rendered unconscious. When he wakes up, GERTY informs him that a rescue team, by the name of Eliza, is on its way to clean up the mess. GERTY tells Sam not to leave the station, due to his injuries, but he leaves anyways. When he arrives at the crash site, he discovers something far beyond what he could imagine. Because of his find, he begins to doubt his sanity and his true identity.

Opinion: This movie was release in the UK, and has only two major roles, played by Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey. While not too well known in the United States, this is a really good movie. The movie really shows what the future could bring for us, and shows it well. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes movies, as it's a pretty "laid-back" movie, although it may be a little bit hard to follow.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant

Description: This movie is the beginning of a series of the books "The Saga Of Darren Shan" written by Darren Shan. The movie covers the first 3 books in the series, "Cirque du Freak", "The Vampire's Assistant" and "Tunnels Of Blood". Darren is a teenager who's parents ask a lot from him, and try and control his life. Darren's friend, Steve on the other hand, is guided only by himself. The two are best friends, even though Darren's parents dislike this. When the two sneak out to a mysterious show called Cirque du Freak, the course of their lives is changed for ever. Darren gets turned into a Vampire, while later on, Steve becomes a Vampeneze. There is a war going on between the Vampire's and the Vampeneze, and what will happen between Darren and Steve?

Opinion: This movie was a good movie in general. The plot never strays far, and keeps you entertained throughout the entire film. Some younger viewers might be disturbed by some scenes, but this is not an intense movie. I would recommend this movie to people who have read the book, or people who are looking for an easy to follow movie.

Rating: 7/10

Note: The sequel is set to release sometime in 2011, under the title "Cirque Du Freak: Trials Of Death"

Shutter Island

Description: Leonardo DiCaprio plays U.S Marshal Teddy Daniels in this drama, taking place in 1954. When a prisoner goes missing, Teddy is called, along with his partner Chuck to investigate whats going on. When Teddy finds out there is another patient, number 67, he starts to question what is really going on there. After a big hurricane, everything goes crazy, and Teddy discovers what is really happening on Shutter Island, at a price.

My Opinion: I saw this movie on the release date, February 19th, 2010. The movie theater was full, and I even saw some young kids in the theater. I would recommend to leave your kids at home for this movie, as young kids might be frighted easily. The movie starts quickly, and may be hard to follow. There is a big use of flashbacks, which tie very deeply into the story. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes Leonardo DiCaprio, and fans of the drama/thriller genre.
